CNC Wire Bender

Dream It, Design It, Bend It

Create two dimensional designs and then lest the CNC wire bender turn ordinary wire rods into your masterpiece. This CNC wire bender is a great machine to use in conjunctions with the 3D printers (plastic material) and the CNC mill (wood materials) to add a metal component to your project.

Get Started

Visit the first floor Ask Us desk to get started.

  • Bring in your wire rods
  • Save your digital design to a flash drive or cloud storage
  • Check in with staff at the 1st floor Ask Us Desk

Check out some of these projects!

What materials are available at the library?

The library does not provide wire rods. Suitable materials can be found at home improvement stores and online at sites such as Pensa Labs.

How long does it take?

Wire bending normally only takes a few minutes. Projects with complex geometry, or that require many shapes to bend, will take longer.

What software do I use to create my design?

Most software that can .SVG file will work for designing. Inkscape (free) and Adobe Illustrator (available in the library) are great options to create your designs.

Do you have any design tips?

Check out this tutorial video full of tips and best practices.

Do you have to have a library membership to use the machine?

No membership required. Users must be 18 years old, have a picture ID, and sign the liability waiver to use the equipment.
