Teen Writers Anthology

The Teen Writers Anthology is a yearly publication of the Frisco Public Library intended to give area teens a venue to publish their original work. Any submissions flagged with plagiarism will not be accepted.

We are open to any genre that follows the rules below. This anthology is for poetry and short story submissions. Entries accepted from Wednesday, October 1st to 11:59pm on Friday, October 31st.  

Anthology Rules

  1. Writers must be in grades 6-12 in fall 2025.
  2. Writers must be able to pick up their anthologies in person. We will not mail or email the anthology out.
  3. Please keep the content appropriate for readers in grades 6 and up. No profanity or explicit violence.
  4. We are only accepting three submissions per teen. You can do a combination of poems and short stories if the total is three.
  5. The maximum word count for short stories is 1,200. Any submissions over the word count will not be considered.

 

Formatting Rules 

  1. Each piece must be submitted individually with the following information at the top left corner: Name, Grade, Email, and Word Count.
  2. Entries should be saved as a Microsoft Word document. Please do not submit PDF files or Google Docs. The library has Microsoft Word on the public computers if you need it.
  3. Files need to be saved as: Last Name, First Name (Poetry or Short Story), Submission Title
    • Do not include symbols such as #, $, <, *, \, :, and @ in your title.
    • Ex: Hall, Elizabeth (Poetry), My Friend Koya
  4. Formatting: 1.5 line spacing, Times New Roman or Arial, 12pt font
  5. When you are ready to send your work, please email your submissions as attachments to fplyouthwriters@friscotexas.gov. Work will not be altered except when necessary to format for the creation of the book.

Note: We do not proofread submissions. Please make sure you read over your writing before submitting. We compile and format the book to the standards of the Trail Blazer Press. We may not be able to accommodate special formatting.
