2023 Friends’ Reading Challenge – August Genre

By FPLFriend_Susan

The 2023 Friends’ Reading Challenge continues this month with the August genre announcement; let’s read historical fiction! Any book with a story that took place before today is considered historical. You don’t need to go all the way back to the First World War or the Roman Empire. A fictional book that took place during the Global Pandemic or way back in 1989 absolutely count!

If you have your own historical fiction book at home by all means enjoy! If you need to borrow one, the Library has literally THOUSANDS of titles for you to choose from. The Friends’ Bookshop also has historical fiction books from picture books for a three-year-old to novels for an 80-year-old to enjoy. Stop by and let one of our volunteers know how we can help you find the perfect book at a great price!

Remember, the 2023 Friends’ Reading Challenge is open to all ages. To participate, simply read a historical fiction title and come by the Bookshop by August 31st to enter the drawing. Once lucky reader will win a $5 Book Bucks card to spend in the Bookshop. Enjoy your book this month and be sure to enter by August 31st.

These titles can be borrowed from the library or ask a librarian to help find a title you’ll love.
