Dear Teen Writers,
There is still time to submit your poems or short stories for the Teen Writers Anthology 2025 edition! We hope to receive scary stories, back-to-school tales, haunting poetry, magical adventures, or cozy autumn vibes–if that’s your thing, of course. We are open to any genre that follows the anthology rules. You have until October 31st to submit your writing.

Now, are you looking at the blank page, internally screaming in frustration because you feel uninspired, unmotivated, and just blah? Well, we are here to help. Below are some writing prompts and the link for the Teen Writers Resource page.
Writing Prompts
- This is for all the gamers out there! You are dropped into your favorite video game. What happens? Are you in the middle of a battle, car chase, or up against Kirby in Super Smash Bros? There are so many video games to choose from!
- The summer heat is still upon us here in Texas (sadly). So, the challenge is to tell a spooky/autumn vibes story where the setting is in a place, like Texas, and it’s still 90 degrees outside during October.
- A love story or friendship that starts and ends in 24 hours.
Dialogue Prompts
- "BOO!" you yell, grabbing the shoulders of a person you think is your friend from behind. They turn around and it's a total stranger.
- “Is now a bad time to mention I’m claustrophobic?”
- “What’s that? / Don’t touch it. / I didn’t ask if I could touch it. I asked what it was.”
- “I thought you were dead. / I promised I would haunt you from the grave, didn’t I?”
Choose a trio of things to include in your story:
- Rainy day, tea shop, and one umbrella
- Four leaf clovers, nature walk, and a rainbow
- Apple picking, a friend with a secret, and back roads
