There’s a new trend on BookTok and it might just be my most favorite trend yet–bedazzling books! The idea is you pick out a book with a cover you like and then you color in the picture by gluing rhinestones to the cover. Think diamond art, but where the book cover is your canvas. It’s a relaxing activity where you can be as creative as you want to be.
Supplies to get started:
- Flat Back Rhinestones (for best results get rhinestones of varying sizes in the colors that you want to fill in all the spaces)
- B-7000 Glue
- Wax Pencil (used to pick up flat back rhinestones)
- Plates or Trays (to pour rhinestones in while working)
- Book of your choice
Instructions:
- Pour some of the rhinestones into a tray or plate. Organize them so that the shiny side is facing up. For easier clean up, use separate plates or trays for each color.
- Take the B-7000 glue and put a thin layer of glue over a small spot on the cover you wish to cover. Work in small areas to avoid the glue from drying and having to reapply.
- Use the wax pencil to pick up a rhinestone. The wax gently adheres to the shiny side of the flat back rhinestone allowing you to transfer rhinestones to the book cover.
- Place each rhinestone over the area where you have applied glue. If you are using a mix of sizes, you’ll be able to fill in some of the spaces between the rhinestones.
- Repeat these steps until you’ve covered as much or as little as you want.
