On Monday, January 19, 2026, as we honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., the Frisco Public Library invites families to discover the power of one person's courage to change the world and how that courage can inspire readers of every age.
A Legacy of Love and Bravery
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. believed in a superpower that everyone possesses: the power of love to overcome hate. As a young boy in Atlanta, he loved reading and learning. As a minister, he used words to paint pictures of a fairer world. As a leader, he showed that standing up for what's right, even when it's scary, can bend history toward justice.
Dr. King taught us that everyone, regardless of age, can be a hero in their own community. Sometimes heroism looks like sharing your lunch. Sometimes it looks like speaking up when someone is being treated unfairly. And sometimes it looks like marching with millions of others to change unfair laws.
The Story Continues
Dr. King's dream wasn't just about changing rules, it was about changing hearts. He imagined a world where children of all backgrounds could be friends, where families of all colors could be neighbors, and where everyone had enough food, good schools, and safe homes. That dream is still being built today, and every one of us can help build it.
