Earth Day is celebrated every year on April 22nd. The event was created by Wisconsin Senator Gaylord Nelsen and activist Denis Hayes in an effort to shed light on the environmental issues that the world faces. On April 22nd, 1970, the first Earth Day was celebrated with demonstrations all across the country. Following the first Earth Day, the movement has grown and now, more than 140 countries celebrate Earth Day.
