Item Donations, Please?

By FPLFriend_Susan

The Friends of the Frisco Public Library has been operating in its new Bookshop for nearly 2 months and sales have been brisk! The items in the bookshop come from one of two places: they are donated by community members or we do receive some “hand-me-downs” from the library as they cull their holdings. Without these donation sources, our shelves would be bare. The money made through sales and donations is used by The Friends to support library needs beyond the scope of the City budget. Past projects included the support of the Ready to Read Railroad, purchase of the book publishing machine, Trail Blazer Press, in the Makerspace, and scholarships for Frisco residents going through the Career Online High School Diploma program available through the library.

If you have items that you would like to donate, we would happily receive them during normal Bookshop hours which are Monday through Thursday from 10 AM to 7 PM, Friday and Saturday from 10 AM to 5 PM, and Sunday between 1 PM and 5 PM. Please bring your items directly to the Friends Bookshop. We have a wagon that can be used to get the items from your car if needed. Please DO NOT bring your items to the library’s loading dock or the drive through window.

Items that we accept include:

  • Hard and soft cover books for all ages
  • Fiction and non-fiction titles and all genres
  • Magazines (from the last three years including National Geographic!)
  • Board games and puzzles

We work with a local reseller who sells DVD’s and Blu-ray movies for us online so we can accept those items at the Bookshop, even though we don’t sell them on-site.

Items that we do NOT accept are software books (because they become outdated so quickly), music CDs, or damaged, mildewed or smelly items.

Please consider a donation to The Friends as you cull your own bookshelves and game closets. Your generosity is what allows us to raise the funds that ultimately make the Frisco Public Library even more amazing.
