Wow its 2020 and with the start of the year brings in the award season. Starting with the Golden Globes and moving onto the highly anticipated OSCARS with its pomp and regalia.

The 92nd Oscars will be held February 9, 2020, 5:30 PM CST, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. Each January, the entertainment community and film fans around the world wait patiently with much anticipation of the Academy Awards. Interest and anticipation build up to a crescendo leading all the way to the Oscars telecast, when hundreds of millions of movie lovers tune in to watch the glamorous ceremony and learn who will receive the highest honors in filmmaking.

Some of the movies of 2019 that won the Oscars for various categories are available for you to catch-up at the Frisco Public Library:

BEST PICTURE--Green Book

ACTRESS IN LEADING ROLE-- Olivia Colman The Favourite

This year plans to be just as spectacular if not more! You'll probably see spectacular and some over-the-top fashion but what you won't see this year is a host. For the second year in a row, the 92nd Academy Awards will be host-less. “We expect that we’re going to have a very commercial set of nominations and a lot of incredible elements have come together that make us think we are going to have a very entertaining show again,” Karey Burke, entertainment president for ABC, said according to Variety, opens a new window.  All the category nominations were announced on January 13th and you can view them all at Oscar.com AND you can check out a few of the Best Motion Picture of the Year nominees at Frisco Library!

The Golden Globes which are a precursor and often a predictor of the wins/losses at the Oscars was held Jan 5th, 2020. Here’s what we saw in the two largest categories:
