Now that fall is officially here (September 22), it's time to think about apples, pumpkins, acorns, leaves changing color, and cooler days (maybe?). Here in Frisco, we may not get cooler temperatures with the start of fall. However, we can still celebrate this time of year with apple picking, visits to pumpkin patches, hayrides, Friday night football, high school marching band competitions, and, of course, the State Fair of Texas.

Fall in our area wouldn't be fall without Friday night lights (or is that Thursday night lights?). We have 12 high schools in Frisco that have football teams and marching bands, so grab a seat cushion or blanket and enjoy some Thursday or Friday night football! The best way to find game schedules is to check each high school’s website individually.
If football is king in Texas, high school marching band is its rightful heir! Make sure you stick around and watch the incredible dance teams and talented marching bands perform during the high school halftime shows. If you would like to extend the marching band experience into Saturday, there are often marching band competitions in the area in September and October. For example, the first one is the Melissa Marching Showcase in Melissa, Texas on Saturday, September 26. Not all high schools compete in the same marching band competitions during the season, so check each high school's website. GOOOOOO BAND! As a former band (high school and college) and drum corps parent, those were some of the best Saturdays ever.
Last but not least, the State Fair of Texas is the consummate fall event in our area. It begins Friday, September 25, and goes through Sunday, October 18.
