We love comics at Frisco Public Library and what better way to prepare for Free Comic Book Day on Saturday, May 2 than to read some of our staff’s favorite titles or creators!
Growing up, Suzanne was a fan of the Archie comics. The library has the newest runs in the series for both teens and kids.
Both Michelle and Marissa said Calvin and Hobbes is a favorite for them. Michelle’s children really love the series, and Marissa loves Bill Watterson’s iconic art, Calvin’s wild imagination, and the reflections on life found throughout the years of the comic strip.
Hannah has too many favorites to narrow down, but their current favorite is the run of Batman and Robin by Peter J. Tomasi and Patrick Gleason.

Jasmine is still deep into her One Piece reading and can’t wait to watch season 2 of the live action.
One of Jen’s favorite comic book creators for adults is Alison Bechdel. She’s been reading her stories online for a while now. She also really enjoys the Lumberjanes series.

John really enjoyed X-Men when he was a kid.

Like Hannah, I have almost too many favorites to name. Two of my favorite creators, though, are Faith Erin Hicks, opens a new window and Kay O’Neill, opens a new window, and my favorite series have pretty consistently been Fence, opens a new window, Blue Period, and Chainsaw Man for the last few years.

Finally, if you’re looking to get the full Free Comic Book Day experience, the closest comic book shop participating is Titan Comics, opens a new window in Dallas.
Happy reading!
