Here are some Christmas cookie fun facts:
- During the Middle Ages, spices such as nutmeg, cinnamon and ginger became more widely available, and it became a holiday tradition to turn butter, sugar, and aromatics into baked treats.
- Putting cookies out for Santa started during the Great Depression, as parents wanted children to become more thankful.
