I don’t know about you, but as a fantasy reader, I enjoy reading fantasy all year round. However, I’m also a mood reader and I’ve found my moods directly correlate with the weather as well as any holidays that may be coming up. It’s pretty easy to find fantasy books that take place in the fall or when the weather is changing but what about in the winter during a holiday? I’ve found this to be incredibly difficult to find in my own reading life. There are tons of holiday books for cozy mystery or romance but that’s not what I’m in the mood for!
After many years (literally!) of research and testing, I’m proud to say I’ve found some! Below are a few of my favorites to get you in the mood for a magical holiday.
Who doesn’t love the Nutcracker Ballet around this time of year? This book happens to be a retelling of the classic ballet with an almost Alice in Wonderland twist.
While this one has more of a science Fiction twist, it’s still a perfect book for the holidays! An Oxford woman travels back to the Medieval Age to try and stop an outbreak. What doesn’t scream holidays about that?
This one is a reimagining of a Christmas Carol. What would happen if scrooge didn’t mend his ways and becomes the ghost of Christmas Past?
