One Scoop or Two?

By FPL_Suzanne

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ice cream!  You don’t have to be a kid to love ice cream.  Did you know that July is National Ice Cream Month?!  Also, ice cream as we know it here in the United States is totally different from what it started out as centuries ago and in far away countries like China and Persia!  As ice cream made its way from those countries to Italy, France, and then colonial America, it went through many changes to become the creamy sweet treat we love today.

If you have a craving for that dreamy creamy treat, you don’t have to run out to your local ice cream shop or grocery store.  Check out this Activities at Home for Ice Cream in a Bag, opens a new window.

If it’s before dinner and too early for dessert, enjoy an Ice Cream Story Time from home.

If art is your thing, learn to draw ice cream!

For you science buffs out there, watch this cool Knowledge Quest video about ice cream.

Finally, if you want a calorie-free way to enjoy this goodie, there is always reading a book about it.  Here is a list of picture, elementary-level, and teen/adult books with an ice cream theme:
