Why I chose this book: "This is a fast-paced, gripping mystery sci-fi novel that handles the multiverse quite well. I was entrenched into the story from the very beginning and felt a compulsion to continue and find out what was going on. There were also great themes such as not taking life for granted and having contentment for the life you have. This is a great recommendation for those that might be intimidated by science fiction stories because this book focuses on the mystery of what is happening more than concrete sci-fi elements."

Synopsis:

Jason Dessen is fully content with his life; he has a loving wife and great son, but when he is knocked out, kidnapped, and drugged, he wakes up in an alternate version of his life. In this world, he never married his wife, never had a son, and is a world-renowned physicist who has achieved something seemingly impossible. Will he choose to stay in this world, or will he try to return to his previous world with his wife and son?

Character Spotlight: Jason Dessen

Likes: His wife and son, physics

Dislikes: His old friend and current rival who won a science prize

Favorite Quote:

“I thought I appreciated every moment, but sitting here in the cold, I know I took it all for granted. And how could I not? Until everything topples, we have no idea what we actually have, how precariously and perfectly it all hangs together.”

Fun Fact:

This book recently got adapted into an Apple TV+ series starring Jennifer Connelly and Joel Edgerton!
