I’ve been a teen librarian now for 7 ½ years and I have been lucky enough to read lots of great Young Adult (YA) literature in that time. In honor of Black History Month, I’d like to share some of the outstanding black authors writing in this category meant for kids from about 12-18 years old. Of course, plenty of adults enjoy reading YA books as well -- so take a look and see if something catches your eye. I’ve tried to include authors who have been around for awhile and authors newer to the scene. There are plenty more NOT on this list. If you don’t see your favorite, please mention them in the comments section.
Happy reading!
