Elementary Reads! What’s That?

By FPL_AshleyR

Elementary Reads! is a fun initiative to help every student in kindergarten through 5th grade get excited about reading! This partnership between Frisco Public Library, Little Elm Public Library, and Frisco ISD encourages every student in kindergarten through 5th grade to read the same book and enjoy activities related to the story.

This fall, the Elementary Reads! book is The Tale of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter. If you have a child enrolled in K-5th grade in Frisco ISD you might be seeing more of Peter soon! To celebrate Elementary Reads! check out the events being held at the Library, opens a new window, challenge yourself with the discussion questions below, or do your own Peter Rabbit themed activities at home.

Peter Rabbit Discussion Questions

After you (or your child) have read The Tale of Peter Rabbit, have a conversation about the book together. If you need a place to start, try some of these questions:

    • What do you think Peter learned from his adventure in the garden?
    • Who is your favorite character in the story, and why do you like them?
    • Why do you think Peter didn’t listen to his mother’s warning about Mr. McGregor’s garden?
    • How do you think Peter felt when he was being chased by Mr. McGregor? What would you have done if you were Peter?
    • What do you think made Mr. McGregor’s garden so tempting for Peter?
    • How did Peter’s actions affect his family? Do you think they were worried about him?
    • How would you describe Peter Rabbit? What makes him different from his siblings?
    • If you could change one part of the story, what would it be and why?
