Happy Grandparents Day!

By FPL_SunitaP

Granddaddy, Gramps, Grammy, Grampa, Mimi, Nana, Papa, Oma, Opa, Abuela, Abuelo — no matter how you say it, it means love. Grandparents add a special kind of love to a child’s life and are cherished members of the family.

Celebrate the grandparents in your life every day, but especially on Grandparents Day, September 8, 2024. (National Grandparents Day takes place on the first Sunday after Labor Day every year.)

Try these fun ideas to celebrate with grandparents.

  1. Read a book with your grandparent.
  2. Take a walk together through your neighborhood or favorite park.
  3. Do an arts and crafts activity, such as creating a collage of family photos and mementos.
  4. Invite grandparents over to play a favorite board game.
  5. Write a handmade card to your grandparents. Mail it along with some favorite photos taken together with them.
  6. Sing a song for grandma and grandpa. If they live far away, send a recording of your song.
  7. Convey the love and appreciation you have for them with a phone call or video chat.
  8. Bake some healthy treats or favorite desserts for your grandparents.
