    Tot's Town is an educational space designed exclusively for children ages 5 and under and their caregivers to engage in active learning together. 90% of a child’s brain develops within the first 5 years of life. Tot's Town offers a wide variety of activities that have been professionally designed to encourage reading, writing, vocabulary, letter and number recognition, and narrative skills, as well as age-appropriate, hands-on offerings that introduce science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) skills. Children who engage in purposeful play in their earliest years are proven to display greater comprehension, vocabulary, and cognitive skills by the time they enter kindergarten.

    Kid’s Club is an active-learning space designed exclusively for children in kindergarten-5th grade. Kid's Club offers a variety of educational and STEM-driven activities such as the Race Zone, Ball Wall, Robotic's Arena, and microscopes that allow children to get hands-on experience with science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

    While most objects print in approximately 4 hours, the print time can vary significantly. You will want to use the software to get a print time estimate before booking a printer.

    Use the PreForm software if using the Formlabs resin 3D printer.

    Use the Cura software if using the Ultimaker filament 3D printer.

    It is located along the back wall (south side) of the Frisco Public Library at 8000 Dallas Pkwy.

    The Frisco Public Library does not charge daily fines for overdue items.

    If you have overdue items, your account will be blocked (which means you won’t be able to place holds or check out new items) until all overdue items are checked in.

    If items are kept more than 30 days overdue, your account will be turned over to a collections service. These items are assumed lost and your account is charged for the price of each item, a per-item processing fee (the price of making a regular book from a library vendor into a proper library book), and a referral fee. If the items are returned in good condition, the price of the items and the processing fees are waived. The $20 referral fee is non-refundable.

    Use the software to prepare your 3D print for printing to determine that amount of material needed to print your object. Costs are 25 cents per gram of filament or 40 cents per milliliter of resin to print.

    Use the PreForm software if using the Formlabs resin 3D printer.

    Use the Cura software if using the Ultimaker filament 3D printer.

    Blocked accounts have overdue items. Please return any overdue items.

    You can visit Tot's Town & Kid's Club Monday through Thursday from 9am-8pm, Friday through Sunday from 9am-5pm. Admissions to Tot's Town & Kid's Club end one hour prior to closing. Admission is free.

    The smallest possible size is a 4.5 inch by 5 inch book. For best results, the smallest book we recommend is the 5 x 5 size.

    Though Tot's Town may look like a play area for families with older children, it is actually an enhanced-learning and play environment specifically designed for young children who have not yet begun school. While children who have entered school might enjoy some of the features of Tot's Town, they are at a different developmental level than the children for whom Tot's Town was designed. 

    The largest possible size is a 8 inch by 10.5 inch book. The largest size we recommend is the 7 x 10 size. 

    Yes, passport services are available at the Passport Application Acceptance Facility in CONNECTION, located between Stonebriar Mall and the Hyatt Regency Frisco - Dallas.

    Older children can explore Kid's Club, right next to Tot's Town. Kid’s Club is an active-learning space designed exclusively for children in kindergarten-5th grade. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

    To maintain an organized and hygienic environment, Tot's Town & Kid's Club will be tidied throughout the day and cleaned on a daily basis. All visitors are encouraged to use our materials appropriately and put them away before moving to a new area.

    To print images or text on the spine of the book, the spine must be at least 0.26 inches wide. Books will need a minimum of 100 pages on premium white paper to achieve a spine that is at least 0.26 inches wide.

    Yes! Both the cover and interior pages can be printed in color.

    We monitor how many people are in Tot's Town & Kid's Club with occupancy counters as visitors enter. Staff are able to see how many spots are available in the space on the computer monitor at the Tot's Town Information Desk. 

    Once our capacity has been reached we will begin a waiting list.

    Once your name is on the waiting list, you may wait in the children's area of the library where there are books and other early literacy activities to occupy your child. You will receive a text that will notify you of when it is your turn.

    Quality trade paperback books.

    A unique number assigned by the Library of Congress. An LCCN number helps make it easier for libraries and other organizations using bibliographic data to acquire your book. An LCCN must be acquired before publishing a title. Trail Blazer Press can provide you with information that shows you how to apply for this yourself. 

    A unique number for identifying a specific book used by bookstores and retailers. You can add an ISBN anytime, even after publication.

    Trail Blazer Press provides step-by-step instructions to help you learn how to format your Book Block and Cover Sheet. We do not offer formatting and design services. Upon request we can help connect you with freelancers for hire that offer formatting assistance.

    We believe it is best to allow our authors to directly file any claims with the Copyright Office. Most find it a relatively straightforward process and we can provide you some basic information upon request by email. Copyright can be filed for after publication.

    Once a book has been approved for printing, we can usually print a copy on the day of your on-site appointment. For larger quantities:

    • 10 copies - 4 weeks
    • 20 copies - 8 weeks
    • 50 copies - 20 weeks
    • 100 copies - 40 weeks

    Trail Blazer Press is unable to accommodate requests for more than 100 copies. If you desire additional copies, you may put in subsequent requests after pickup is completed.

    We have four return locations:

    • Inside the library's lobby, to the left of the library entrance.
    • At the drive-thru on the east side of the building.
    • At the book locker located inside the Frisco Athletic Center.
    • At the book locker located inside Stonebriar Centre outside of CONNECTION.

    Staff is not available to assist with help using the software to design, prepare you object to print, or operating the printer. We do provide detailed step-by-step instructions that will help guide the first-time beginner through using the software to prepare an object for printing (Cura / PreForm) and operating the printer.

      • Failure to maintain a clean and tidy room will result in loss of reservation privileges.

    You can pickup holds at three locations:

    • Inside the Frisco Public Library from the holds shelves and through the drive-thru window on the east side of the building.
    • At the book locker inside the Frisco Athletic Center (FAC).
    • At the book locker at CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre.

    Please note: If you have placed items on hold for FAC or CONNECTION, an "in transit" status will be assigned prior to delivery. However, this does not mean they are currently on the way to the lockers. We have a limited number of lockers available at each location, so your status may remain "in transit" for a few days. 

    While the library has one location, you can pick-up holds and return books to our book locker inside the Frisco Athletic Center or the book locker at CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre. 

    CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre also has a small children's collection available for checkout.

    Adult volunteer applicants must be over the age of 18 and no longer be in high school.

    You must register to be a volunteer using the City's Online Registration Process.

    Library computers have Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The computers in the 2nd level Computer Lab also have Adobe Creative Suite.

    The library has WiFi, free of charge, for use on personal devices. The network name is "LIB-Guest." and there is no password to connect. 

    Restrictions in contracts with digital content providers prohibit non-residents from using eBooks or most streaming services.

    Yes! Download the library's app from the App Store or Play Store to search the catalog, review your account, checkout with a digital barcode, view the library's calendar, and more.

    You can reset your password by clicking on “Log In/My FPL” in the upper right corner of this page, then choose “Log In/Register”.  You will be prompted to log in.  Instead of logging in, select the link for “Forgot my Password” and an email will be sent to you that will allow you to choose a new password.

    Your library card number is the entire series of numbers below the barcode on your library card. Enter this number with no spaces.

    Replacement library cards are available by showing photo ID at any Information Desk.

    You can opt-in to view a list of your checkout history. The default setting is for this feature to be disabled. If you choose to opt-in or remove this setting, changes may take 24 hours.

    To opt-in or to opt-out for checkout history:

    • Log in to your account. 
    • Open "My Settings". Go to "Borrowing History" in "Account Preferences".
    • Enable toggle for borrowing history.

    Government entities could request your checkout history and information will be provided to government entities in accordance with Library policies. By enabling checkout history for your account, you are doing so at your own risk.

    To view checkout history:

    • Log in to your account. 
    • Open "Borrowing History" on the "Checked Out" tab.
    • Titles will appear after the item is returned.
    • Titles checked out prior to enabling checkout history will not display.

    The Frisco Library does not participate in the TexShare program. To find the nearest participating public library, please visit the Texas State Library website.

    These cities geographically touch Frisco, fund their own city libraries at a level comparable to Frisco’s, provide similar services, and have entered a “Reciprocal Lending Agreement” with Frisco to offer no-charge memberships to Frisco residents.

    Frisco ISD and the City of Frisco are two separate taxing entities. Property owners pay taxes to Frisco ISD to cover the costs of public education, including support of school libraries. Taxes paid to the City of Frisco cover the cost of police and fire, infrastructure, parks and recreation, the library and more.

    The Frisco Library is funded through City property taxes paid by those who live within the city limits. County funding, historically accepted by the Library, only subsidized 10% of actual library use by county residents, but is no longer received. State funds for libraries have been eliminated. These funding realities make it necessary to limit no-charge services to Frisco residents. The fee for non-residents ensures that all Frisco Library members provide financial support for the materials and services used.

    The Library does not provide blank materials. Suitable materials can be found at home improvement, hobby, and online stores.

    You will want to bring in proof of the type of plastic you are wanting to use (product label or similar). Approved plastic types include PLA and acrylic. Chlorinated plastics (PVC, vinyl, etc) cannot be used with the laser cutter.

    Most projects take an hour to set up and complete. Times vary greatly and are dependent upon material type, size, and complexity.

    Always bring a test piece of the same material to fine tune the laser cutter settings first.

    Library staff are there to help you get set up, started, and coach you through the basic operations. We also have a manual available at the laser cutter.

    Vector graphic software (SVG) such as Adobe Illustrator, InkscapeVecteezy, or Tinkercad.  Engraved designs can be created in any software that can save the design as a .jpeg or .png. You can even create a design in a word processor for raster engraving.

    These file types used by Adobe Illustrator (.ai) and CorelDraw (.cdr) can usually be opened with the Inkscape software at the library and sent to the laser cutter. If it is a commonly used file type for laser cutting, we likely have an application that will open the file to send it to the laser cutter. We recommend bringing the original file along with a PDF version.

    A member may check out up to 100 items at a time. Within those 100 items, there are some limits by collection. At any given time, a member may check out:

    • eBooks and eAudiobooks (Frisco residents only) - 10 per card; one or two week check-out
    • Holiday Picture Books - 10 per card; one week check-out
    • Book Club Kits – 2 per card; six week check-out
    • Cake Pans - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Maker Kits - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Theme Kits (Sensory, STEM, and Story Time) - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Travel Kits - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Ukuleles - 2 per card; two week check-out

    All other books, movies, and audiobooks check out for a two week period.

    Items will automatically renew up to three times unless a member's account is blocked, the item has a hold for another member, or the renewal limit has been reached.

    There might be a few reasons why some opportunities are not available to you. We might already have enough volunteers for a certain task or you might not have the correct qualifications for a task. If you are unsure please feel free to email adultvolunteers@friscotexas.gov for clarification.

While children who have entered school might enjoy some of the features of Tot's Town, they are at a different developmental level than the children for whom Tot's Town was designed. 

    Older children can explore Kid's Club, right next to Tot's Town. Kid’s Club is an active-learning space designed exclusively for children in kindergarten-5th grade. All children must be accompanied by an adult.

    To maintain an organized and hygienic environment, Tot's Town & Kid's Club will be tidied throughout the day and cleaned on a daily basis. All visitors are encouraged to use our materials appropriately and put them away before moving to a new area.

    We monitor how many people are in Tot's Town & Kid's Club with occupancy counters as visitors enter. Staff are able to see how many spots are available in the space on the computer monitor at the Tot's Town Information Desk. 

    Once our capacity has been reached we will begin a waiting list.

    Once your name is on the waiting list, you may wait in the children's area of the library where there are books and other early literacy activities to occupy your child. You will receive a text that will notify you of when it is your turn.

    Light snacks and non-alcoholic beverages are allowed in the library.

    Messy foods (e.g. ice cream) and foods that require heat or cold for preparation and/or serving are prohibited.

    Library computers have Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, and Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. The computers in the 2nd level Computer Lab also have Adobe Creative Suite.

    The library has WiFi, free of charge, for use on personal devices. The network name is "LIB-Guest." and there is no password to connect.

  • Borrowing and Returning Items

    The Frisco Public Library does not charge daily fines for overdue items.

    If you have overdue items, your account will be blocked (which means you won’t be able to place holds or check out new items) until all overdue items are checked in.

    If items are kept more than 30 days overdue, your account will be turned over to a collections service. These items are assumed lost and your account is charged for the price of each item, a per-item processing fee (the price of making a regular book from a library vendor into a proper library book), and a referral fee. If the items are returned in good condition, the price of the items and the processing fees are waived. The $20 referral fee is non-refundable.

    We have four return locations:

    • Inside the library's lobby, to the left of the library entrance.
    • At the drive-thru on the east side of the building.
    • At the book locker located inside the Frisco Athletic Center.
    • At the book locker located inside Stonebriar Centre outside of CONNECTION.

    You can pickup holds at three locations:

    • Inside the Frisco Public Library from the holds shelves and through the drive-thru window on the east side of the building.
    • At the book locker inside the Frisco Athletic Center (FAC).
    • At the book locker at CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre.

    Please note: If you have placed items on hold for FAC or CONNECTION, an "in transit" status will be assigned prior to delivery. However, this does not mean they are currently on the way to the lockers. We have a limited number of lockers available at each location, so your status may remain "in transit" for a few days. 

    While the library has one location, you can pick-up holds and return books to our book locker inside the Frisco Athletic Center or the book locker at CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre. 

    CONNECTION inside Stonebriar Centre also has a small children's collection available for checkout.

    You can opt-in to view a list of your checkout history. The default setting is for this feature to be disabled. If you choose to opt-in or remove this setting, changes may take 24 hours.

    To opt-in or to opt-out for checkout history:

    • Log in to your account. 
    • Open "My Settings". Go to "Borrowing History" in "Account Preferences".
    • Enable toggle for borrowing history.

    Government entities could request your checkout history and information will be provided to government entities in accordance with Library policies. By enabling checkout history for your account, you are doing so at your own risk.

    To view checkout history:

    • Log in to your account. 
    • Open "Borrowing History" on the "Checked Out" tab.
    • Titles will appear after the item is returned.
    • Titles checked out prior to enabling checkout history will not display.

    The Frisco Library does not participate in the TexShare program. To find the nearest participating public library, please visit the Texas State Library website.

    A member may check out up to 100 items at a time. Within those 100 items, there are some limits by collection. At any given time, a member may check out:

    • eBooks and eAudiobooks (Frisco residents only) - 10 per card; one or two week check-out
    • Holiday Picture Books - 10 per card; one week check-out
    • Book Club Kits – 2 per card; six week check-out
    • Cake Pans - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Maker Kits - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Theme Kits (Sensory, STEM, and Story Time) - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Travel Kits - 2 per card; two week check-out
    • Ukuleles - 2 per card; two week check-out

    All other books, movies, and audiobooks check out for a two week period.

    Items will automatically renew up to three times unless a member's account is blocked, the item has a hold for another member, or the renewal limit has been reached.

  • Adult Volunteers

    Adult volunteer applicants must be over the age of 18 and no longer be in high school.

    You must register to be a volunteer using the City's Online Registration Process.

    Please note that all adult volunteers will be required to pass a yearly background check.

    Sign into your volunteer account. Click the tab titled Opportunities. Pick an activity and a time. Click Sign Up!

    Sign into your volunteer account. Click the tab titled Hours. Select which activity you completed, what day you completed it on and how long you spent on that activity. Click Save.

    There might be a few reasons why some opportunities are not available to you. We might already have enough volunteers for a certain task or you might not have the correct qualifications for a task. If you are unsure please feel free to email adultvolunteers@friscotexas.gov for clarification.

    Please do one of the following: either remove yourself from the volunteer opportunity online or email us at adultvolunteers@friscotexas.gov to let us know that you won’t be able to make it. 

    The Library is not able to accommodate court-ordered volunteer requirements at this time.
